September Post

I had to go back to other September posts and remind myself that September is kind of a slow/weird month for us. We do so much in August with summer break and the beginning of school. I'm probably always a bit (or a lot) sad that Brian has to go back to work. It takes me a while to get back into the rhythm of normal life. And then the holidays start and I'm thoroughly distracted.

This year we're living the soccer life, so that's keeping us nice and busy.

Sweet Roz, puppet shows, and spending three evenings a week at soccer practice! They're better with snacks.

Brian found a tomato horn worm as it was snacking on a cherry tomato (I like most bugs, but ewwwwwww!!).

We watched The Sound of Music for the first time. There's been a lot of Nazi talk on the news lately, so we thought it was appropriate to show the kids our culture's most iconic anti-Nazi film. They liked it. But we only made it to the intermission.

And the kids' first soccer games!! The Yellow Cheetahs and the Golden Predators!

Roz wants to play soccer too!

And we went to the dog swim at Templeton Park! So exciting!!

Brian volunteered to be a referee for Everett's home games. He's never really played soccer, but he's a fast learner!

It's been very fancy in our house lately.

We've been building train tracks on the deck.

We got a new piano!! It belonged to Brian's grandpa Stanley, which makes it special. But it also matches our decor so much better than our previous piano. It's become my favorite piece of furniture. And someday someone might make some music with it too!

We've been enjoying some family walks and bike adventures lately.

This day was a particularly big adventure as there was some major tree trimming going on around the lake that we had to navigate around. And then we went to the playground and the zoo!

Speaking of bikes, Everett's been riding his bike at Colony Park when Lydia has her soccer practice. Last week we got the bike out of the van to find that it had a flat tire! That was terrible news . . . for all of us.

But the next day Brian took Everett to K-man to get a new tube, and they enjoyed a mechanical bonding activity.

Roz likes to lay on things in unusual ways. And lay down in the bath too!

And Grandma Kathie got her other knee replaced!! A little over a year between these two photos. She's recovering well. We're so happy and grateful that Aunt Sue is here to help.
