We had a lovely visit with Dixie and Jason. We went to the zoo and the park and the kids rode their new scooters.
The kids have been really into games. They got some new ones for Christmas. It's fun for them to be at an age where they can really play. Everett especially is playing some more adult-level games. He legitimately beat Brian, Phil, and Gion playing Ticket to Ride the other night.

We took a trip to the Santa Barbara Zoo. We used the tickets Everett won in the school long jump-a-thon. Rosalind turned 17 months that day.

Everett was surprised with an award at the school assembly. Look at this group of adoring adults who came out to watch him receive it! The best village. The teachers make up personalized awards. Everett's was for: his positive effort in reading and math! Keep up the terrific participation and sharing!
So Brian doesn't feel left out (since he couldn't be at the assembly), here's a drawing Everett made with him in it. It's Everett (big), Brian, Lydia, Rosalind, and me. He depicted the clothes we were actually wearing.

We attended the San Luis Obispo Women's March on the 21st. It was an amazing experience. They say something like 9 thousand people were there. All those like-minded people together, it was energizing. We weren't sure if we would go at first (crowds, kids and crowds), but Gion decided to go, and they gave my mom a ride, so it ended up being a lovely family outing too. A soggy family outing. And the kids finally got to wear their Hillary swag!
I've been trying to get more active in local politics, attending meetings and talks. Not surprisingly, Brian has been very supportive. He's happy to do dinner and bedtime with the kids if it means I get out of my social media induced funk and go organize.
Lydia loves baking with us. Here we were making scones.
We ended the month with a birthday party with lots of friends and some stickers on the van. Star Trek: TNG--this is the type of future we're dreaming of!
