November Post

Well, hello December! We're so happy you're here. Since this blog is mostly for posterity and memory jogging, I'll admit November 2016 was hard for us. We were (are) big fans of Hillary. Beyond agreeing with her on policy and vision (and on valuing equality and respect . . . I could go on), we were so excited for our kids to grow up with a woman president. Election night was rough, and we've basically been going through a grief process since then.

I was planning to get a joyful photo of us in our shirts on election night, but there was no joy, so these might be the best we ever get. The girls' shirts say "run like a girl." *sob* I'm still so happy I got to vote for her. And that our state overwhelmingly chose her.

Everett made up a Hillary hand sign! *double sob*

Some art I made before and after the election. I detect a strong change of mood.

But fall is here!! And we're more grateful than ever for our little family and our bigger family and amazing friends. Life is good.

Roz is going to gymnastics now! Lydia's still taking gymnastics, and she's doing really well. Phil and Gion have been on gymnastics duty for a while now, and we're so grateful. They took beach bunny Lydia to play in the waves in November! Brian takes the kids out disc golfing pretty often, and we all love it.

Our friend Matt had his birthday party at a pizza and arcade place. The kids had a blast.

Lydia popped her front teeth out, so we had to go to SLO to get them put back in. Once in a year, that's not too bad . . .

Everett has gotten a couple banana splits by earning blue starts in class, we had a Lego play date with Rosa, and we had fun at the lake park while Brian was home for Thanksgiving break.

Thanksgiving cards and shootin' hoops before the big meal!

We had another lovely Thanksgiving with all four grandparents. Gion had the kids make place cards for the table. It makes them so proud.

It's hard to get a clear photo of a smiling baby.

Lydia and Everett playing with a puzzle, Brian and Gion playing cribbage, George playing the dog guitar as an actual instrument, and Lydia and Kathie surveying the table setting and the food!

There are many ways to eat pumpkin pie.

Group shot! We tried to get some better quality ones after dinner, but . . .

It was a little late to ask these stinkers to pose for pictures again. We all had a great time despite the sticking-out-tongues.

Yay!! We bought a minivan! Shopping on black Friday turned out to be a great idea. We were at the dealership in Santa Maria for HOURS, and it was really nice that they had the slide and bounce house there special for the day. I dragged my heels buying a new car, because I hate car shopping, but I really like our new Toyota Sienna. I was almost surprised how happy I was to wave good-bye to the CRV.

Bath time fun. All three in the tub doesn't happen very often.

December is going to be a lot of fun (already is). Happy Holidays!!
