March Post

It's April already!? Crazy! I've been distracted from the blog because Brian's been home for spring break, but today the kids are sick and we're stuck at home. Perfect time to blog!

As you can see, the weather's been a bit wacky. Warm days and cool days. No days cool enough get get bundled up like THAT to eat popsicles! Above, celebrating our friend Rosa's 5th birthday!

Special Lydia time. A beach day with Phil and Gion and gymnastics with me (usually Phil and Gion take her there too).

Little Miss Sassy Pants and our new chest of drawers (with our old chest of drawers). We've decided to go with the Art Deco waterfall furniture for our bedroom. It will take us a while to find/afford a bed and nightstands. But someday!!

We are still in the middle of switching rooms (but much farther along than when I took this picture!). Then we were sleeping on a mattress on the floor, and all of our clothes were still in our old closet.

Reading books with Grandma Gion and a picture Gion took of the kids helping in Brian's school garden.

Two pictures of Everett being amazing. An amazing brother reading to his sister. Amazing Lego Maniac building a candy dispenser from online instructions.

Playing more outdoors as it gets nicer.

It might look like he's leaning in for a sweet kiss, but he was really whispering, "throw popcorn at Mom's camera." I'm not joking.

The last picture, Lydia was looking at an ant on her finger.

Mattress shopping with Lydia (we got a QUEEN mattress!). She was a great helper. Goes catatonic in situations like that, I'm thinking of her at the dentist.

We got to see our baby again and found out she's a girl!! We were very surprised! At the 13 week ultrasound, we were told to expect a boy. We were surprised but very happy. We're getting another sister!

Lydia playing "Row Row Row Your Boat" and "Head Shoulders Knees and Toes" with Elmo in her toddler bed. She's STILL with us until Everett can move into his new room and she can have his.

Mother of the Year award goes to the lady who puts her daughter in Santa PJs in March and lets her eat dandelions. Everett's wish: "I wish this dandelion could talk."

21 weeks! 23 weeks as I type. Over half way!! Incredible.

Brian rebuilt our closet, and it is amazing what you can fit in 3'x4' if you really try. Now it's two poles instead of one and he built shelves on either side and a shelf at the top that wraps all around. It's even more functional than I could have imagined (by the way, a 3'x4' master bedroom closet?!? What was the builder of our house thinking!?!).

Everett learning to love power tools (insert Tool Time/Tim Allen grunt).

Awwwww. I love this picture so much. They're both starting to like looking at books alone. Everett never has. He's always liked being read to. Lydia's starting much earlier.

Lydia took her "bak bak" with toys and books to the audiologist. We've started exploring getting her services for her delayed speech and this is where we started. We're happy we did. She has a mild (treatable) hearing loss.

Brian's night to read. We take turns reading to the kids separately. It's been working out well since Everett gets five books, sometimes it takes a while. I think he'd get fewer books if it was the same parent every night. Lydia has been getting a few baby books with the opposite parent, but lately she's started sitting in for Everett's first book. Pretty soon they'll be together for every storytime, as Baby gets closer and arrives.

Dying Easter eggs with Phil and Gion! Some special Easter/spring celebrating before Grandma's surgery. Everett made his egg "blackity black."

Some Facebook quotes:

Brian and the kids are already ganging up on me! They bump "Werewolves of London" whenever they can and I shake my head. Terrible song.

I was in the bathroom and Lydia turned the radio to a Christian rock station and turned the volume all the way up. I came out, and she was making up her own interpretive dance. Only two and already learning just how to push my buttons!

Brian told Everett to go out and scare the deer, so he goes to the deck and yells/sings/stomps, "boom crash [sic] sound of my heart the beat goes on and on and on and on and . . ."

Until next month! April should be another good one!
