February blog! AKA Lydia's birthday month blog judging by the photos I just uploaded. But let's start with something not as exciting as a darling daughter turning FIVE! We got a new couch and rearranged our living room! Phil and Gion have a new lovely living room, and we took their old couch. I'm not quite ready to get rid of our retro green couch. Too many memories.
In other furniture news, we found a new home for our piano! After offering it to friends and not getting any enthusiastic interest, we put it in our driveway with a free sign. Eventually a couple stopped and were super excited about it but didn't know how they would move it. Soon someone else came by, the father of a teen who was hanging out next door. He volunteered to bring over a trailer. The couple offered to pay him but he declined. The woman explained that she's a massage therapist and offered him three free massage sessions, and he accepted! This all made me feel warm and fuzzy about my community. I mean, I'd take a massage for giving away the piano, but since we were close to paying to take it do the dump, I suppose I'll zip it.
Lydia turned 5 on February 8th!! That morning she requested a sandwich with candles in it like I did for Everett in May. We were out of some important ingredient for a PB&J so she agreed to getting a grilled cheese. She also asked for dolmas. Birthday breakfast of champions.
The day after her birthday she got to celebrate at school.
And Everett made the U.S. Capitol out of Lego.
We had a birthday party for Lydia! Rainbow unicorn theme. We had play dough and bean bags and coloring and pin the horn on the unicorn!
Because we had the party on February 11th, my dad's actual birthday, Lydia helped pick out a special giant cupcake for him and chose for us to sing to him before her. Happy 75th birthday Grandpa George!!
Blowing out the candles on the fabulous rainbow cake Lydia picked out. I don't think I'll bake again. It was so freeing to hire that out. Also a great shot of the rainbow streamers Brian hung up! He couldn't cut the cake fast enough for those kids!
We're so happy my mom was able to come celebrate with us! We had lots of new friends attend including a few preschool buddies. We have such amazing friends and family! What a fun party! We pulled it off!!
Shout out to Lily and Rachel who found orange streamers in their party decoration stashes when the local stores failed us. You can't make a streamer rainbow without orange!
Roz is inspired by the Olympics. I sent a picture to my parents who've always told me about my toddler gymnastics on an exercise bike during the 1984 Olympics.
Could they stand any closer to the TV?? Also, their Valentine's outfits.
Everett got a haircut! And, oh yeah, got silly with the chip bag.
And we finally took down the streamers!! It only took 2 weeks for Brian to feel comfortable destroying his creation.
It's class time!! Our weeks are filled with classes now, and it's so much fun! Gion takes Roz and Lydia to dance. Gion also takes Lydia to gymnastics (not pictured). Roz has been enjoying Playtime Discoveries. And it's been a great session of Music Together. Lydia's really able to focus and she sings the songs to herself often. Not shown is Everett's basketball which ended Saturday! That was March, so I'll include final game/awards pictures in next month's post.

As close as Roz got to getting her teeth checked at the dentist. You just never know how they'll react at this age.
And Lydia had an unplanned trip to the eye doctor! She has a habit of getting too close to babies and this time she got scratched! She was fine. And she liked that her eye glowed blue!
