January Post

Happy February! And happy January blog! It's an exciting blog because it's the first one where I'm talking about expecting baby number three!! I'm announcing baby number three on the blog!

We found out mid November, so all through Thanksgiving and Christmas, through all the celebrating and visiting, we knew I was pregnant.

The pee stick! I thought the one with Lydia's little head sticking up was cute. There's no morning privacy in this house anymore.

Yup, baby #3 means tests from the dollar store.

I was having some abdominal pain, so my NP sent me to get an ultrasound, make sure the baby was in the right place. The ultrasound happened on my birthday. It was an awesome birthday present seeing the tiny fetus, in the uterus, with a tiny fast heartbeat.

People kept asking if I was having a nice birthday, and I would say it was great/amazing/awesome! But I couldn't explain why it was so wonderful, even to our family who we spent the day with. We didn't want to tell them yet at 7 weeks.

We told our families when they were all gathered for Christmas dinner. It was a very fun surprise. Well, Katie said she guessed at Thanksgiving when she saw me making myself a virgin bloody mary (I was being so sneaky too!). But everyone else was surprised. And everyone was excited.

The second picture was taken at 9 weeks 5 days. It was a bit too early to hear the heart with the doppler, so she did an ultrasound. Unlike the first, you can see the head, body, and little arms and legs!!

I've been feeling pretty good. Not too nauseated. Just very tired and unmotivated. I credit my easy first trimester to being as lazy as humanly possible. I haven't been doing anything I don't absolutely need to do. And when I feel sick, I sit down and distract myself with my phone. Luckily, Brian had three weeks off over the holidays and did everything so I could take it easy. Even back at work, he still does so much. I wouldn't have decided to go for #3 if Brian wasn't a partner who goes above and beyond. Plus we have our wonderful parents who help a lot. The kids got to do a lot even though I was slacking off (i.e. making a human being).

Ok, on to normal monthly stuff. We'll come back to baby stuff later.

We had visitors!! Darby, Katherine, Eloise, and Madeline stayed with us on their way home from Christmas/New Year's in Southern California. We love catching up with our friends, and it was fun to get Eloise and Lydia together again. Eloise is a month younger than Lydia and they're about the same size.

Race car fun at Grandma and Grandpa's

Everett did so well on this dinosaur puzzle! With a little help from mom.

Lydia's cool sweatshirt from Auntie Katie and her first Chucks?

You know you live in a small town (and chat with your mailman) when you get a note that says "really no mail again." Thanks Mailman Mike!

Everett's drawing of "hey diddle diddle, the cat and the fiddle, the cow jumped over the moon, the little dog laughed to see such sport, and the dish ran away with the spoon." Plus a backwards seven to let you know there are seven things in the picture.

We're in the process of moving our bedroom into the studio. We've slowed down a little while we prepare for Lydia's birthday party. But I did get a little painting/crafting space set up for myself. It's not much, but it's something.

Friday morning with Grandma. Everett's been such a Lego Maniac lately. It's great.

Sweet tot sleeping and her favorite new face. Or a revisited face. I think she did it when she was baby.

We had our first "big" ultrasound and Everett got to come with us. Everything looked great! Everett was wonderful. He impressed the doctor by correcting him. It's not a baby, it's a fetus! Haha.

The doctor wasn't willing to say for sure, but we all agreed it looked like a boy! He even circled "boy" on the chart. We'll know for sure in March!

Ok, we're trying the photo series again. The first one worked out great. Everett wrote his own sign but wanted to mess with it a lot (wanted to make it 18 weeks--I wish buddy). Lydia was very cooperative.

But the next week, this happened. She was tired, her Daddy was taking the pictures, and she wanted to go to him. We'll see if we can complete the series. Next time, we'll go back to Grandma Kathie as photographer.

Rewinding a bit. The kids chilling and snacking. Everett's reward for helping me stuff piƱatas. Lydia gets to sit in a special place while Daddy makes dinner.

It's finally warm enough to play on the deck!! Brian cleaned the slide and we put out the trampoline. Lydia especially will all of a sudden get the idea to go out "mo vee!" and sometimes it even seems like we have indoor/outdoor living.

Above: Everett was invited to a Frozen birthday party where costumes were encouraged. I was pretty proud of my last minute Olaf costume.

Serious Everett in his Christmas hat from Grandma Kathie.

We went to a play date!! It's been so long! With the holidays and the pregnancy, play dates have not been happening. It was great to get out and see our friends.

My baby girl has a full, high ponytail!! It's crazy!

The beautiful almost 2-year-old!! I hope to write a full post about her and how wonderful and genius and wild she is. Maybe after her birthday extravaganza is over.

Speaking of birthday extravaganza! Here's a lovely picture of Brian helping me make the monkey beanbag toss game for the party!

February is going to be a great month! Has been already. Lots of birthdays, fun trips, and hopefully I'll start feeling a lot more energetic!
